Cobre Panama participated in the International Book Fair

Through its “Cobre Conecta” program, the company promoted an open and transparent dialogue with the public.
The participation was an opportunity to raise awareness of the mine’s environmental conservation programs.

Panama, August 22, 2024 – More than 7,000 people visited Cobre Panama’s stand during the twenty-third edition of the International Book Fair, held from August 13 to 18. The objective was to provide information in a transparent manner.

Through the “Cobre Conecta” program, Cobre Panama presented a series of activities to promote open and honest dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and access to information for citizens.

During the fair, a group of experts in hydrology, geochemistry and geotechnical engineering provided information and answered questions about the mine and its environmental programs.

The stand, located in the children’s area, aimed to educate and entertain children through playful and educational activities, where they learned about the protection of the harpy eagle, the flora and fauna of the Donoso region, and the rescue of archaeological pieces.

The book “Ana en la Mina”, sponsored by the Women in Mining Foundation, which promotes female empowerment and the role of women in the mining industry, was also presented.

In addition, visitors were able to take a virtual tour of Cobre Panama’s facilities and learn more about the environmental preservation actions carried out in partnership with scientific organizations.

Cobre Panama reiterates its commitment to the well-being of the surrounding communities, the environment and its employees.
