Cobre Panama addresses the public opinion to deny the information that has been circulating in social networks about the appearance of dead Tamboril Narizón fish (Canthigaster rostrata) in the area of the Punta Rincón International Port, falsely pointing to the company as responsible for this situation.
This natural phenomenon is related to a seasonal algal bloom event that occurs annually in several areas of the Caribbean region. It has been widely documented in scientific publications and in the media long before the existence of the Cobre Panama mine, and is unrelated to any mining or port activity.
At Cobre Panama, we work continuously with experts and scientists in environmental protection, ensuring that our preservation activities, carried out during the last year, are carried out with the highest standards and good practices, in a transparent and responsible manner.
