Panama, September 25, 2023 – At the initiative of the Santos Jorge School, a reforestation day was held at Cerro Guacamaya, located in the community of Cañaveral, Cocle province.
Cobre Panama provided some 200 seedlings for this reforestation day, which was supported by firefighters and residents of the communities near Cerro Guacamaya.
Hilario Trujillo, student of the Santos Jorge school, highlighted the participation of students, teachers, community, firefighters and Cobre Panama who worked together to support the reforestation program, which is necessary for Cerro Guacamaya and surrounding areas.
For his part, teacher Ibrahim Trujillo pointed out that reforestation guarantees water for everyone. “I thank Cobre Panama, as well as the firefighters and those who have helped us reforest and guarantee the water source.”
Through these reforestation actions, Cobre Panama reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of the environment at the national level. It is also important to highlight that Cobre Panama has developed the largest nursery in the country and the most extensive reforestation program carried out by a single private company, producing more than 1 million seedlings per year.
