Panama, August 29, 2024 – Cobre Panama, through its Cobre Conecta program, recently participated in the XIX Latin American Congress of Civil Engineering, held at the University of Panama. During the event, the company had the opportunity to present details of how the mining process works, the elements of the Preservation and Safe Management Plan pending approval by the authorities, as well as initiatives in environmental conservation and water monitoring.

Attendees were able to explore the Cobre Panama archaeological rescue project and experience a 360 Virtual Tour of the mine. In addition, they also had the opportunity to interact with the team present, ask questions and get first-hand information.

The main objective of the Cobre Conecta program is to provide the public with a clear and transparent vision of Cobre Panama’s environmental and social commitments and programs. Through this initiative, the company seeks to bring citizens closer to its responsible mining work. Although not currently operating, Cobre Panama remains committed to the preservation of the site while awaiting approval of the Preservation and Safe Management Plan, submitted to the government in January of this year.
