Coclé, October 17, 2024 – Faced with the severe consequences of the heavy rains, Cobre Panama employees went to the affected areas in the Municipality of La Pintada and Coclesito, in the district of Omar Torrijos, early in the morning.

Aware of the difficult situation faced by the families, we delivered basic necessities, including 20,000 bottles of water, hygiene utensils, mattresses, blankets and non-perishable food.

In addition, to facilitate access to areas of difficult communication, we provided aerial support by helicopter, which allowed local authorities to reach and assess the situation of the victims.

The rains also caused landslides and fallen trees that obstructed the roads. In response, our environmental volunteers worked hard to immediately remove the branches.

We also made a donation of fuel, which enabled the backhoe of the Municipality of La Pintada to clear the obstructed roads.

On the other hand, we participated in the cleanup of the Coclesito IPT, providing a tanker truck with water and a team of company engineers who offered their expertise to assess the affected homes and access roads, thus determining the extent of the damage.

At Cobre Panama, we sympathize with all those affected and reiterate our commitment to support the communities near the mine, especially in times of crisis.
