Public Prosecutor’s Office and regulatory institutions visit Cobre Panama to carry out ocular inspection at the mine

Panama, January 5, 2024 – Cobre Panama respects the process under which the work was carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and other authorities in the recent ocular inspection of the mine facilities, which included the review of several areas, including water quality monitoring.

Environmental risk management is a fundamental pillar of our performance. During our years of operation, we have subjected our practices to periodic reviews by external experts under international standards at every stage of the process, from design to operation, and we have employed state-of-the-art technologies to ensure proper environmental management.

Eight independent audits have been conducted over the past four years, all of which have been duly reported to regulatory and governmental authorities. These audits have consistently confirmed our successful compliance with environmental regulations and best practices. They can be viewed here:

We highlight that the Cat. III Environmental Impact Study is one of the most comprehensive and complex of its kind, with 371 engagements, including 265 of an environmental nature. This comprehensive approach demonstrates our respect for the environment and for responsible management.
