Accessible water in Zambia

After talking to local community leaders, it is clear that one of the best ways to help the people of Zambia is by creating better water infrastructure for their people. We have worked on several projects that will help ensure that the communities in which we work have better access to water.

Students, patients and people of Kabwela
We initiated the drilling and development of five wells, two of them equipped with solar submersible pumps and two others with 10,000 liter PVC water tanks. These facilities serve three kiosks: Kabwela school, Kabwela clinic and neighboring villages. In addition, three boreholes with India Mark II pumps were constructed to supply water to the Kansanshi, Nkonde and Solochi school communities in Kabwela. Our goal is to help students, patients and all residents of Kabwela gain sustainable access to clean water.

Solar energy installations for Kijilamatambo elementary school
Kansanshi, in collaboration with Mader Group companies from Australia, built an ablution block and solar water system for Kijilamatambo elementary school. These toilets are powered by running water and solar energy.

Water for the wider community
In addition to these projects, we have installed 179 taps and hand pumps in our surrounding communities in Zambia. These installations ensure that safe drinking water is available to the people with whom we interact. We have also trained 25 communities in water resource management, helping them to make the best use of the water they have and to manage it properly in difficult times.

All these programs were developed in collaboration with the community, partners and local governments with the objective of building an infrastructure that truly responds to the needs of the territory.
