Cobre Panama Denounces Acts of Vandalism

Panama, January 13, 2024 – At Cobre Panama, we are committed to the care and preservation of the mine. However, we are obliged to denounce acts of vandalism that are jeopardizing our efforts to prevent environmental damage.

Recently, during a routine inspection by the company’s Environmental Department team, several acts of vandalism and theft of equipment from the environmental monitoring stations were detected, as well as vandalism of the sediment control plant.

Following our commitment to environmental preservation, our specialized personnel have proceeded to the immediate repair and installation of new equipment. At the same time we have proceeded to inform the authorities about these events.

We strongly condemn these acts perpetrated by malicious individuals, which put the communities surrounding the mine at risk.
